I have many Iyer friends who are gals. Of them, only very few resemble traditional mami! Yesterday I got a message from my close friend that she has pierced her nose successfully ( I say successfully cos she got her nose pierced after a hell a lot of crying and after getting pampered ... habba... at last it happened).. The entire night I was imagining how this female would look like.. Will she be wearing a ring in her nose or a diamond stud.. or something different and funny :p.. I looked at her today and was like "oooh... wow... Iyer mami in the making!!!".... In fact I wanted to make fun of her and irritate her the moment I saw her.. But I was dumbstruck man..
She was looking so beautiful and stunning that though I wanted to ... I was not able to ... ;-)
I just felt had her fiancé seen her then.. may be he would have sung.. "Sundari neeyum.. sundaran naanum.. aahhh.. ooohhhh... eeee".. And she in return would have sung... "Palakkattu pakkathile oru .... eeeeeee....oooooo.... nuuuuuuu..."...
I just felt... that's the beauty of tradition!!! :-)

Unforgettable Theatre Experience!!!
You can see a smile on one's lips when he/she thinks about the beautiful past.. I am no different. As usual I was sitting idle in the afternoon (in fact I am idle always).. and I was trying to rewind my childhood memories. There are many instances when our class has had a hearty laugh. One such instance is this.. I was in 4th standard .... We were having our English class. Not sure what chapter it was and it has no relevance to this post. The teacher asked a हटके question to us. "Those who have gone to theatres please raise your hands".. Almost everyone's hand was in the air. So she said .. "those who haven't gone to a theatre ever, please raise your hands".. To our surprise, one hand went up in the air.. The teacher had a bewildered look on her face. She confirmed with the gal if she has never went to a theatre. She gave a sure shot "never" look.. However the teacher's duty is to take lessons.. So she didn't bother much and continued with her job of taking lesson... The bell rang and we were happy again.. ;-) .. But somehow few of us still had it ringing in our ears "I haven't ever gone to theatre".. We were just curious to know if she was in her senses or that we heard it wrong.. I forgot to mention that... when only her hand was up in the air... that gal had a a confused look on her face.. Anyways... we went to her and asked her.. "Were you in some kind of jungle where there are no theatres at all!!!".. "Or is it your family tradition to not go to theatres.. which is some kind of पाप or something like that..".. In return she said .. "Oh man..Don't embarrass me with such questions.. anyways all of you have gone to theatres.. the experience would have been one of a kind right... I thought atleast one would give me company of not going... I have never been you know..".. The next sentence that she said gave us a trickle.. "From wherever you sit.. will you be able to see everyone.. will you be able to get the crux of what is actually going on.." And we were like... "Ofcourse.. that's why all of us go there!!! to watch it on big screen...".. She was like... "Oh.. even there you watch it on screen.. huh... sigh!!!... Won't there be noise at all".. We: "Hey.. comm'on.. We shout when necessary...".. She: "oooh... You sit and watch or stand all the time".. We: "Hmmm.. When we shout.. we stand.. otherwise sit and watch...".. It just went on and on.. Then suddenly she asked me : "Which match did you see there...".. Actually to be honest.. I don't remember of matches being shown in theatres then.. Only movies.. Then finally it dawned on me that something is fishy and we are misinterpreting what she is saying.. I asked : "What do you expect to see us in a theatre." .. She was like .. "Cricket match. You folks enthusiastically energize the folks playing.. blah blah... " .. Hah.. "Idiot.. duffer... that's a gallery.. a stadium...".. And the entire class burst into laughter.. So every time someone says he/she went to watch match.. I ask "To a theatre or a stadium... :p )..

A jolly ride .. in the night.. at midnight
Reached home at 9:45 p.m. Had wholesome dinner. yawning... Slept off in mom's
lap.. One of the most boring IPL matches being aired on T.V. There are people who watch cricket matches irrespective of it being boring or interesting. goddamn.. Dad was supposed to catch a bus at 12 30 a.m. Suddenly my inner conscience said it's time. I got up to see that my dad is still glued to the T.V.. Just imagine.. One over left and 35 runs to score.. Is it really possible.. I would say it would have been possible had Lance Klusener been on the batting strike ;) ( Point to note is that I too watch cricket.. :) )..Finally..I saw myself saying. "Get up dad.. it's time.. you got to catch the bus".. Mom shouting.. "She has to come home alone at midnight".. Finally the boring match ended up with the Kolkata Knight riders defeating Deccan Chargers by 24 runs.. The time was 11 45 p.m. Atlast dad and I were on the road..
It was quiet except for the barking of dogs. too many dogs actually.. we reached the bus stop.. that was not the end.. He had to go to tambaram. So he got into a bus to tambaram. and I was on my way back home.. Though sunny night.. pitch dark it was .. no street lights.. ooooooh. Too many stray dogs on the road and they were infact fighting.. bhu bhu bhu.. not even a single soul on the road or near by.. Horrific images started crossing my mind.. Though it was just 10 mins ride from bus stop to my home. it seemed ages!!! huh.. On a side road .. I saw a guy ..but it looked as if he was staring at me and was having defiant look on his face... uffff... (may be he was thinking.. what is a gal doing at this hour on the road... ) .. Looking at the dogs made me feel as if they are chasing me ... My goodness. Finally I reached home safe :) .. Though there was breeze outside.. I was sweating from top to bottom... Mom said once I entered home.. "It's pitch dark outside.. you are brave enough to come home alone!!!" ... I just gave a cheesy smile while trying to hide the scary experience I had...
Actually it's not all that tough to ride alone in the dark.. May be 2nd experience will be far more better :) so that I can do justice to the title ;-)
